How to Care for Lorry Stickers So They Stay Neat

Simple lorry sticker care habits: wait before the first wash, wash gently, keep pressure washers off the sticker edges and park in the shade.

How to Care for Lorry Stickers So They Stay Neat

A freshly installed lorry sticker always looks sharp. But lorries work hard: blazing sun, heavy rain, dusty roads and weekly washes. How you look after the lorry has a lot to do with how long the sticker keeps looking tidy. The good news is that lorry sticker care is not complicated. Follow the simple habits below.

The first week after installation

After installation, the adhesive on the vinyl still needs time to bond fully to the lorry surface. That is why common practice is to wait a few days before the first wash, especially a machine wash. The lorry can go straight back to work as usual; just avoid heavy washing in this early period.

What to avoid at the start

  • High-pressure machine washes.
  • Scrubbing hard with a stiff brush over the sticker.
  • Picking at or pressing the sticker edges with your fingernails.

If you notice small air bubbles after installation, don't poke them yourself. Take a photo and send it to us on WhatsApp so we can advise on the next step.

How to wash the lorry properly

Regular washing is actually good for stickers. Dust, mud and road grime left for a long time can make the surface look dull. What matters is how you wash.

Cleaning products

Use a mild car shampoo and clean water. Avoid strong solvents, petrol, thinner or acid-based cleaners on the sticker, because they can damage the vinyl surface and the ink. If oil or diesel spills on it, wipe it off as soon as possible with a soft cloth and soapy water.

Stubborn dirt: bird droppings, insects and tree sap

Lorries that spend a lot of time on the highway or park under trees will pick up bird droppings, insects and sap. These come off more easily when cleaned early. Wet the area with soapy water, leave it a few minutes to soften, then wipe gently. Don't scrape with anything sharp or use a rough scouring pad.

Washing technique

  1. Rinse the lorry with water first to loosen sand and dust.
  2. Wipe gently with a sponge or microfibre cloth, from top to bottom.
  3. Rinse again until no soap is left.
  4. Dry with a soft cloth, especially around the sticker edges.

What about wax and polish?

Avoid abrasive polishes (the kind with cutting compound) on the sticker. If you want to use a care product, pick one labelled as suitable for vinyl, and test it on a small area first.

Pressure washers: protect the edges

Many lorry owners use a high-pressure washer because it is quick. That is fine, as long as you are careful. The most sensitive parts are the ends and edges of the sticker. If the jet hits a sticker edge at close range, water can get under the vinyl and lift it.

Quick guide

  • Keep the nozzle well back from the surface, not right up against the sticker.
  • Aim the jet straight at the surface, not at an angle into the sticker edge.
  • Don't hold the jet on one spot for too long.
  • Ask the car wash staff to take care around the stickers.

Parking and weather

Malaysian weather is hot and humid all year round. The vinyl we use is waterproof and anti-UV, but any surface that sits in strong sun every day will start to look worn sooner than one that is sheltered. When you have the choice, park in the shade or under a roof when the lorry is not in use.

Routes matter too. Lorries that regularly go into construction sites, gravel roads or plantations are more likely to get sand and branches brushing against the body. For lorries like these, check the stickers more often so small issues are spotted early.

An extra layer of protection

For lorries that are always out in the sun, there are add-ons such as a UV laminate over the print. The price of this option is confirmed on WhatsApp based on the size of the job. Read more in the article on lorry sticker materials.

When to contact us

Sometimes a sticker gets scraped, hit in a minor accident or has an edge lifted after catching on something. Don't pull or trim it yourself, as that can make the damage worse. Take a clear photo of the area and send it on WhatsApp. We can assess whether that part needs repair or replacement, and confirm the price first.

If you are planning new stickers, take a look at our lorry sticker packages. Installation is done at your location in every state, for example in Klang, Ipoh or Kuching.

A quick monthly check

Take two minutes a month to walk around the lorry and look at the stickers. Drivers can do this while the lorry is being refuelled or loaded.

  • Is any edge or corner starting to lift?
  • Are there long scratches or tears from scraping?
  • Are the phone number and details still clear and up to date?

Small problems caught early are usually easier to deal with than ones left for months.

In short: wait before the first wash, wash gently, keep the jet away from the sticker edges and park in the shade when you can. These small habits help your lorry stay tidy on the road.
